Garlic

Dome

Taken whilst in the town centre briefly. This was taken from the mawdsley street location. It is the top of the Town hall clock Bolton

Town hall

Taken from the Queens park in Bolton this is the Bolton town hall naturally framed by the trees within the park.

bridge to far

A quick decision at 12:30 got me in the car and heading north up the M6 toward Arnside. Carmen and myself arrived all wrapped up in thermals and fleece to be greeted by the RAIN!!!! aw well we had a nice cuppa coffee and then headed down the banks of the kent estuary for a gentle wet stroll. This is the viaduct that stretches across the estuary carrying the railway.

The railway Line opened in 1857, and the viaduct was rebuilt in 1915. There are a total of 50 piers, and the viaduct is 522 yards long.

Chimney

This was the subject that caught my eye today whilst out and about around the barrow bridge area of Bolton. It is the remains of the Barrow bridge mill. The mill closed in the 1847, but it was not demolished immediately. It survived in an increasing state of disrepair until at least 1905 butthe chimney still stands.

Sunday dinner

Nothing appealing today due to me being in the kitchen making Moussaka. Not a true moussaka but my take on the dish.

fried mincemeat, onion, carrot and mushroom.

Tomatoes, rosemary, thyme, oregano, cumin, garlic, nutmeg and a pinch of paprika.

A layer of parboiled thinly sliced potatoes sauteed in olive oil, covered with a cheese sauce and topped with Parmesan cheese baked for 40 Min’s  180C

Cascade

Just a quick walk through Barrow bridge today and the water was flowing at break neck speed. this was the only shot i could get  without getting my feet wet and climbing down to the water level.

Kiboko

Picked the Grandkids up today and set off up the motorway toward Glasson dock. The day was bright enough but the wind was a lazy wind (went straight through you rather than go around ) so we managed a couple shots and then off to the greasy spoon for a nice cuppa tea and something to eat.

Country cafe

Today saw me and a friend go off to Tockholes to take a look at the cafe up there that has a oneway mirror to view the wildlife. There was numerous birds like robin, finches,a family of great spotted woodpecker etc,etc but…………….due to the day being another rainy day up north the light was terrible in the cafe and outside. I did manage to sneak a shot of these dominique chickens on our way out at around 14:25 and the rain had just stopped but not for long.

Smoke without fire

Today was another cold day here in Horwich Bolton but after wrapping up I took the high road again to the pigeon tower up on Rivington moors. This is the view from halfway looking west -ish.taken at 2 oclock

I have also included a couple shots of the Pigeon tower

from later in the afternoon around 17:30 when Joe© a good friend

of mine rang to ask if I fancied another evening of sunset chasing.
